Old Photos Revived, Robotic Massages, and a Smart Phone Case
New AI Feature Brings Old Photos to Life
A new AI feature called LiveMemory can transform an old picture into a short, animated video clip, bringing people, pets, and moments back to life.
The feature, available in the family history app MyHeritage, uses artificial intelligence to create 5-second video animations from still photos. The results are surprisingly lifelike, complete with gestures and interactions. Whether it’s a family portrait, a beloved pet, or an object like a kid on a bike, LiveMemory makes them move. For instance, a still photo of a child on a bicycle might show them riding it in the generated clip.
All clips include watermarks so you’ll know they were AI-generated. The feature is free to try, but if you plan to make several clips, you’ll need to pay a fee.
Robotic Masseuse Joins the Spa at the Ritz-Carlton Bacara
The Ritz-Carlton Bacara in Santa Barbara is adding a high-tech twist to its luxury spa experience: a robotic masseuse called Aescape (pronounced “Escape”).
This cutting-edge massage system uses artificial intelligence to scan your body, capturing over 1.2 million 3D data points to deliver a custom massage. The system is self-service, allowing you to select focus areas, pressure levels, and even music preferences from a touchscreen. Even better, it remembers your settings for future visits.
Already in use at some Equinox locations and a New York City hotel, a 30-minute session with the Aescape costs $75.
A Phone Case That Doubles as a Digital Picture Frame
A new phone case is catching attention with its unique feature: a customizable digital picture frame built right into the back.
The Tizag Digital Canvas Case uses NFC technology to display images, QR codes, boarding passes, and more—no batteries required. The case includes a small digital screen that resembles a Kindle-style e-ink display but in color.
Users can update the display wirelessly through a companion app in seconds, choosing from a library of stock photos or uploading their own snapshots. The display even works if your phone dies, making it a functional and stylish accessory.
The Tizag Digital Canvas Case is available now for iPhones and costs $60.
