Gaming gear has come a long way from just picking out a mouse and keyboard. I recently got a look at some of Logitech G’s latest equipment, and what struck me most was just how much gamers can customize their setup.
Logitech G Play 2026 is happening September 23, with the company promising more than 15 new products across PC gaming, esports, streaming and sim racing. I got to try some of the gear ahead of the event.
For someone just getting into gaming, Logitech positions its G3 series as the starting point, with lighter-weight mice, keyboards and headsets. From there, things get much more customizable.
One example is the G512 X keyboard, which combines mechanical and analog technology. Logitech also showed me its mouse pad that can continuously charge a compatible wireless mouse while you’re using it. No stopping to plug in a cable or worrying about the battery dying in the middle of a game.
Then there’s sim racing, which was probably the most fun thing I tried. Logitech’s modular setup uses its Trueforce technology to send feedback from the game through the steering wheel. Drive onto gravel and you can actually feel the roughness and bumps through your hands. It adds another layer of realism that’s hard to appreciate until you try it.
I also spent some time with gaming content creator Gina Darling, who has worked with Logitech on product development. At one point, the company even put motion-capture equipment on her hands to study how she uses a mouse while playing. That gives you an idea of how seriously gaming companies study even the smallest movements.
What I came away with is that gaming setups have become very personal. Performance matters, but so does creating a space and collection of gear that feels like your own.
