Please note: This book was written based on iOS 11. Apple has released an update to iOS 12 with new features and additions. Many of the tips will still be relevant, but please be aware it might not include tips on the latest iOS enhancements.
I wrote a book!
The book is written so anyone can understand and it is packed with all of the things I think you should know about the iPhone. The features – big and small – that can really help you be more productive, gain control over the privacy of your information and customize your device so that it works best for you.
The reason I wrote this book is pretty simple – a large majority of the emails, Tweets, Facebook messages and questions I get are about the iPhone. I figured, why not put some of the best tips and tricks I’ve shared into one easy to reference guide.
Keep in mind, this book focuses on the native functionality of the iPhone. All of the tips I explain require no extra downloads or software other than what is built into iOS.
So, what will you learn?
For starters, I’ll teach you how to take a screenshot (tip #1) in case you don’t already know.
You’ll also learn how to change the brightness of the built-in flashlight (tip #9) and turn your phone into a magnifying glass (tip #5), which is super handy for reading restaurant menus.
I’ll show you how to reveal the “hidden” search functionality in Settings (tip #19) and Messages (tip #91).
You’ll learn about iCloud, how to free up storage on your phone instantly (tip #20 and #21), stop those annoying WiFi popups (tip #31), do more with your photos (tips #44, 45, 46, 47) and learn how to scan a document (tip #58).
For families, you’ll find some especially useful tips. I’ll teach you how to control what your kids can access on their devices (tip #38) – they won’t like that tip but you will. I’ll also show you how to stop double paying for Apps and Movies you share with family members (tips #64 & 65). You’ll also learn how to delete any lingering iTunes subscriptions (tip #66).
There is much, much more. Like how to scan a QR code, turn off WiFi assist to save data, check your battery health, make sure you’re not mistakenly taking a photo with a filter, remember where you parked, explore foreign cities with a virtual tour, wake up to a gradual alarm, see if a movie is streaming for free and more. There are 101 Handy Tips in all.
Keep in mind, this is all coming from the guy who was there for the original iPhone launch in New York City in 2007 and, more recently, made a video at the launch of the iPhone X that was viewed 22 MILLION times on Facebook.
There is a lot here – it’s not a complete list of everything you can do with the iPhone but the features I think you should know about.
There are two ways to buy 101 Handy Tech Tips for the iPhone.
You can purchase it from Amazon as a Kindle eBook. (Recommended) This might be the easiest solution for many. Once you purchase it through Amazon, you can read the book on your Kindle reader or download the Kindle App to your iPad, iPhone or Android device.
You can also purchase it directly from me. If you use this method, you will get the book in all available formats, including a printable PDF. You will also get it in EPUB format, which you can drag and drop into iBooks, Google Books, Nook, Kobo and pretty much any other electronic reader or eBook app out there. You’ll also get the MOBI version of the book, which can be loaded onto the Kindle if you know how to do it.
No matter how you purchase 101 Handy Tech Tips for iPhone, I am confident that you will find many tips and tricks to rely on over and over.
And in case you’re worried about an upcoming software update changing everything about iOS, rest assured, I have kept in mind the changes coming with iOS 12 as I finalized the book. I give you a heads up when a feature might change, but the core functionality in many cases will remain similar.
You will undoubtedly feel smarter and more confident when using the iPhone after you complete the book. Even I felt like I learned some new tricks in the process of researching and compiling this book.
